Christmas Prize Draw
As our thoughts turn to spending the festive season with our families and friends, the team at Simon on the Streets is planning a Christmas Prize Draw to raise money to support the homeless and vulnerable in the Leeds, Bradford and Huddersfield areas. Thanks to the generosity of our supporters and corporate partners who are kindly donating the prizes, all the proceeds of the Draw will go directly to supporting our vulnerable service users during the winter months.
Vulnerable adults like John: John has been a client for a number of years, having suffered extreme childhood trauma as a result of physical and mental abuse. He has psychosis, hears voices telling him to harm himself daily, and manages this by talking to himself. John is a poly-drug user and alcoholic and therefore finds it very difficult to stay in accommodation. Our outreach staff have been working with John and his drug services to get him into rehab. After a lot of work around his self-esteem, dignity and responsibility, John finally attended rehab. However, he struggled a lot and a few weeks ago he left. John might have given up on rehab, but we have not given up on him. We continue to look for and provide the opportunities for him to make that step towards a happier and healthy life.
