We met Charles Allen, or just plain Charlie then, as a guy who was the subject of a documentary because he was writing a book about the impact of public sector funding cuts. Yes, we completely fell for it. Had we have known who he really was perhaps we wouldn’t have challenged him to spend a night on the streets in order to make a realistic effort at empathy… or perhaps we would, he was great and really up for it.
