Thursday the 4th of February, was a normal day for many people. However, for a brave band of fundraisers, it was the day that they walked on FIRE!
The event was a fantastic team builder. Everyone who took part rose to the challenge of overcoming real fear to take that first step forward. It was a great metaphor for the work that we do as an organisation, supporting vulnerable people on the margins of society, to take that first step towards turning their lives around. We support them find the motivation and self-esteem for not just the first step, but for every step along the way, no matter how long that may take, no matter how many set backs they may have.
Last night the fundraising total stood at around £1500.00. It costs us around £2200.00 per year to provide intensive support for one individual. Can you help the fundraisers to reach that goal? If you would like to support this brave band in reaching their target, then please make a donation on our JustGiving page and mark it #firewalk.
Huge thanks to all who supported the event. Thorpe Park Hotel and Spa, who gave us the venue and refreshments for our guests completely free of charge. They even put their Operations Manager onto hot coals! Huge thanks to Knock on Wood who brought along a tribe of drummers, their music really helped to set the atmosphere for the event. And finally to Time4Change who delivered the Firewalk – their passion, enthusiasm and professionalism was immense!
