As we step into spring, we thought we’d give you a bit of a run down of what's been going on here at Simon on the Streets. The cold weather is easing, but for the homeless and vulnerable people we support, this is a difficult time. The UK is slowly beginning to open up again. But what does this mean for those who are homeless – many of whom have been staying in unused hotel rooms?  Amongst other things, we’re excited to welcome fantastic partnerships this spring. Our network is growing, and we couldn’t be more grateful. And with May just around the corner we’re excited to hold our second Little Sleep In next month. But first, let’s talk about how amazing corporate supporters have made this Easter one to remember.

Easter Treats

Our brilliant corporate partners have been incredible, providing us with donations of chocolate Easter eggs for our homeless clients. Easter is the perfect time to show the homeless and vulnerable community that we care. Everyone loves something sweet to eat, especially when times are tough.

Our thanks to Gateley’s Legal, Schofield Sweeney, GHD and Weightmans who all generously provided us with a ray of sunshine (and chocolate) this Easter!

We also want to say a huge thank you to Tattu restaurant in Leeds. Their dedicated team spent 9 hours making fantastic white chocolate dragon egg desserts for our homeless clients. They were incredibly popular and the perfect Easter treat.

The Growth of 5 for 5

Our fantastic 5 for 5 network continues to grow as we welcomed two new businesses to our network. Your Engine Room, a Leeds digital marketing agency working with Northern B2B businesses, became a 5 for 5 member last month. Estates Portfolio Ltd, a Yorkshire-based real estate company, have also joined us.

As part of our 5 for 5 partnerships, we host monthly virtual networking events where specialists in the Yorkshire business world share their knowledge. This year, we’ve had PR superstar Ellie MacDonald, from Maccoms PR, and brand voice expert Helen Cliff of So Contented speak at our 5 for 5 events. To find out more and attend our next monthly networking event, simply get in touch.

New Corporate Partners

Schofield Sweeney

We're delighted to have been chosen by West Yorkshire law firm Schofield Sweeney as their charity of the year after Schofield Sweeney invited their staff to put forward ideas for which charity they’d like to support. Homelessness and mental illness were popular choices, and Simon on the Streets was selected based on the fact that we offer street-based, emotional, and practical support for the homeless and vulnerable.

HSBC Leeds

HSBC Leeds have also chosen Simon on the Streets as their charity of the year. Their staff chose Simon on the Streets due to the current pandemic and its effect on the homeless. We look forward to working with HSBC Leeds this year.

We rely entirely on the generous support from the public and businesses to continue our work. If you're interested in supporting Simon on the Streets, please get in touch.

The Little Sleep In

On Friday 7th May, we want you to join us for the Little Sleep In. Pitch your tents in your garden, or build a den in your living room, you just need to be in your own home, somewhere other than your own bed. It’s a lot of fun, whether you’re taking part with family, friends or colleagues. Fundraising doesn’t get any more enjoyable than this.

We don't know what the future holds for the homeless and vulnerable people we support. But we do know that your support helps us source shelter, provide food and give emotional support to those who need it most. Homelessness is always tough for those living it, but in this time of change it's more difficult than ever.

To take part, all you need to do is request a fundraising pack from admin@simononthestreets.co.uk, set up your Just Giving fundraising page and get to sleep!
